"Everybody thinks we're the hicks, Carel admits.
Household and Carel, the three R's are not always reading, 'Ritin' and 'rithmetic, even if parents Jackie and Rick are public school teachers. When it comes to Riley, they could just as easily include Ridin 'and Ropin'.
Carel grew up on the rodeo circuit and the youngest last year captured the high school the size of calf roping team championship with his partner Sam Weber, Walla Walla. He has won countless placed on the loops and half a dozen saddles stunning, easily worth $ 500 each.
In Enumclaw, however, Carel is best known as the quarterback of the football liaison and leader of the squadron boys unbeaten, top-ranked basketball. The only thing he is interested in lassoing, this week is the program for the first Class 3A state championship.
